Speed limits

The speed limit for motor vehicles with a maximum weight not exceeding 3,500 kg outside urban area is 90 km/h. Vehicles exceeding 3,500 kg may go 80 km/h. The speed limit for motor vehicles of weight up to 3,500 kg on motorways is 110 km/h or 130 km/h. The maximum speed in urban area is 50 km/h; on motorways in this case it is 80 km/h.

Daytime running lights

A motor vehicle in motion has always to have its low beam or daytime headlights lit

Alcohol

It is prohibited to drink alcohol before or while driving. No amount of alcohol in the blood is tolerated.

Motorways and tolls

It is necessary to purchase a sticker for motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in order to use most motorways and express roads. Motorcyclists are exempt from the sticker. Motorists must display the sticker on the right side of the windscreen of their vehicle. It is available at border posts, from post offices or petrol stations. Electronic toll system is available for vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes.
